Very large folder won't open anywhere

Featured Replies

Hello everyone! I'm wondering I can find a solution to this issue. I've got a very large folder with 100's if not 1000's of folders in it. When i try to open it in Explorer it just loads, loads and loads and eventually errors out. I've tried to pull it up in the Unraid browser and while I don't get an error it does seem to just load and load and I don't get a folder listing.

Just a note, I am setting my SMB to "max protocol = SMB2_02" because I had some issues in the past about the slow loading of the folders.

It might be worth posting your system diagnostics zip file (obtained via Tools->Diagnostics) covering a period where this issue occurred to see if anyone can spot a likely reason.

I have one share with 4 folders in it, but within one of the folders there are 3042 sub-folders.  No problems opening it

I tried restarting my system and a small Windows 10 VM that I have on there shut down and now I'm able to access the share? Does that sound like a memory issue?
