Hello

There is a good deal on the 8TB Easystore WD USB drive (drive inside is a Red WD) for ~ $150

Do i need to pre-clear it before installing it into my server to replace my current 2TB parity drive?

I've read many different things about parity drive replacement............................and it's confusing !

    You do not NEED to preclear it as every sector gets rewritten as part of the replacement.     You may WANT to preclear it as a way of doing an initial confidence check on the drive before putting it into use.
