November 15, 20187 yr Hi everyone, this is the plan of the build I have so far. I am still working on the drive for storage and cache and other factors. If you have any suggestions or advice I would greatly appreciate it. The following is the basic hardware: Server = Asus ESC8000 G4 Processor = Xeon Platinum 8180 x2 Memory = Crucial 128GB DDR4-2666 LRDIMM x4 Graphics = GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition x2 (for VM passthrough) integrated for unraid USB = Startech PEXUSB314A2V USB3.1 4Port A x2 (for VM passthrough) Boot Drive = SANDISK ULTRA FIT USB 3.1 FLASH DRIVE 32Gb The questions i have so far are, What are the best options for this? 1. Optical Drive support to rip discs to make copies of movies, music and iso 2. KVM over IP to remote into the server and VM 3. should I add a multi nic in to passthrough to the vm 4. Dedicated Sound Cards for the VM 5. Cache Drives? 6. Storage for the VMs and the rest of the shares and such
