quietspaces
Hey everyone, just got my unRAID server setup and more or less running. I've got a couple questions that hopefully I can get a little bit of help with, I managed to get most of the stuff figured out on my own so far with SpaceInvaderOne videos and forum searches. I can get my Vega 56 to pass through to Windows 10 via Seabios but the OVMF just fails regardless what I do, including adding the vBIOS ROM. The VM just never takes the GPU, it doesn't black screen just nothing at all, same unRAID OS page. However, when I pass the vBIOS through SeaBios it will boot the Windows 10 installer / OS, but at first it artifacts the shit out of the screen until after the Vega 56 is picked up by windows devmgmt. I can only get the VM to boot if I either do not pass audio or use the on board audio, attempting to pass the Vega's audio will cause the VM to fail to start. Once Windows is installed I can't install the AMD GPU graphics without locking up the VM, black screen, crashes. I suppose i'll start trying older GPU drivers to see if they work. Any thoughts on why it might artifact during Windows install or why passing the GPU audio through causes the VM to fail would be appreciated. GPU is in it's own IOMMU and Windows 10 ISO was downloaded fresh from Microsoft website. GPU is scoring 5700 in Time Spy which is about 1k short of where it would normally be bare metal, my guess is due to the missing drivers. Kind of surprised it did as well as it did without them, getting some random screen flicker which I also assume is related to the drivers. DZMM
Have you tried stubbing the GPU? I found that although you can pass through and cards in the primary slot, you can get ghosting/artifacts so you need to stub Quote Link to comment
quietspaces
Can you elaborate on what you mean by stub? Quote Link to comment
DZMM
This video might cover it - not sure If not, it's in the 6.2 release notes Quote Link to comment
quietspaces
No different. Passing through the HDMI audio from the Vega causes the VM to fail. Requires a hard reboot. The article mentions the devices showing up differently in the VM template after stubbing but this is not the case for me. I see no difference. I've tried enabling upstream and downstream, the other one. Same shit on all. Regardless what I do I cannot get the VM to start with the HDMI audio passed through alongside. Disheartening start to the whole thing, making me rethink the viability of this. Edited November 16, 2018 by quietspaces Quote Link to comment
