Copying files to new prepared flash drive

Featured Replies

Hi
I am having issues with the preclear pluggin and was told through the preclear thread that it was because of issues with the flash drive hardware such that it  is no longer being seen as "read -write" . It had been working fine and now is not.

I prepared a new flash drive with the limetech USB creator.  But I don't know how to transfer the files from my current flash to the new , prepared drive that now contains many files and folders.   I would love some instructions on how to do that.

Thanks!!!

Jon

( I forgot to choose "notify me of replies" so I copied post again... didn't see another option. sorry for redundancy)

If you copy over the contents of the config folder on the old flash drive, then everything *should* be good to go (you will have to transfer your key registration once booted up)

Any weird stuff happens due to corruption of the old flash drive after boot up, then post back for help.

The prepared drive already has a config folder and it has stuff in it.   please be specific about how I would do that copy correctly.  thanks!

And I'm sorry by please be really specific , moving and copying folders to others with the same name confuses me. I really don't know how to do it right.   that it will include subfolders and how to deal with files with the same name. thanks!

Also there is a "logs"  and "preclear-reports"  folder in the old drive. Should I copy them to the new drive?

Wouldn't bother

Default configs.  If you're really worried, then make a backup somewhere of the existing config folder and then overwrite everything on the flash.

Whole point is to basically get the system back to where it was with a minimum of trouble.
