French-Guy
Looks like I may need quickly a 4TB drive to "replace" 3 x 1.5TB (they are not 100% full) Microcenter is doing the Seagate Barracuda 5,900 rpm at $100 Newegg has the Deskstar HGST for $110 They also have the Toshiba X300 for $100 Which one would be best? Endy
I believe both the HGST and the Toshiba are 7200 rpm drives if that matters to you at all. I would go for the HGST because they seem to be a pretty solid drive. Toshiba would be my 2nd choice. All of my current disks are 6TB HGST's and the have been flawless so far. I had one 6TB X300 and it was doing just as well, maybe just a tad bit hotter than the HGST's. It died a premature death a couple of days ago while I was doing some upgrades to my server, but the fault was totally my own and nothing to do with the quality of the drive itself. French-Guy
I've ordered a WD Easystore 4TB on Google Express (from Best Buy) for $73 If the drive inside is a WD Red (as it was for the 8TB I ordered for $155 2 weeks ago), then I guess it's a good deal...... Quote Link to comment
