Unable to access unRAID server internally or externally via webGUI - stuck on a fake local TLD

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Specs: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/TeaLake/saved/BnbV6h

I (jokingly) set the local TLD for my unRAID machine to "beast" before realising it didn't work nicely with something (don't remember what) so I changed it back to local. Worked for a long while until now, when going to either the internal or external IP redirects to https://the.beast

I've booted into GUI mode, confirmed the TLD is set to "local", flushed DNS

Help. I can't do literally any work.

Why did you post this to Bug Reports?

  • Community Expert

Admin moved this thread to General Support and my latest post to this got left behind so I am posting it again.

Can you ping it by IP? Can you access the command line either on the console or by telnet/ssh? You are going to have to get us diagnostics somehow.

Have you perhaps named your server "the.beast"? Possibly that is the problem. If so, you can fix that by editing config/ident.cfg on flash.

The Need Help sticky pinned near the top of this same subforum contains instructions on how to get your diagnostics from the command line.

Your flash drive is mounted at /boot, so the file is /boot/config/ident.cfg.

Unraid comes with Midnight Commander (mc at the command line) and it has a builtin editor. There are some other linux editors builtin also but I don't use them so don't have a list handy.

Please don't link to unknown external sites. Just attach your syslog directly to your post. Or better if you could get us the complete diagnostics zip.

Looks like your server name is simply "the"

T.T

Transfer.sh was the only way I could figure out how to upload the file to the web without some weird trickery

Your syslog is full of hack attempts from all over. Don't put your server on the internet.

How am I supposed to manage it remotely then?

The Need Help link I gave earlier has the information on how to get the syslog or better yet the diagnostics even if the network isn't working. Maybe you didn't read it.

Take your server off the internet. Then maybe we can work together to get things working again, including perhaps VPN. Lots of people have made this work.

issue: server is 15 miles away

I can close the ports if that would help?

Works great for me and many others.  Perhaps you had it mis-configured?
