ToXIc
Hi all i'm running the plex docker for years now and plying locally using direct play with no issues. Recently i've been sharing and also viewing media outside of my HTPC and have been battling transcoding problems for a while now. I've been bounced between the plex forum and here but i hoping this is my last stop until its resolved. I'm using Unassigned Devices to run the Docker and here are my settings. From my logs below, a guy over at the Plex forum found these errors Plex Media Server Logs_2018-11-21_20-16-24.zip Nov 21, 2018 20:06:39.146 [0x14c474ffd700] ERROR - Unzip: could not set executable bit on output file Nov 21, 2018 20:06:39.146 [0x14c474ffd700] ERROR - CodecManager: failed to extract zip Nov 21, 2018 20:06:39.146 [0x14c474ffd700] ERROR - Error configuring transcoder: Decoder install failed: truehd_eae and asked the following Quote Is there a mounted volume ? Does /etc/fstab have `exec` set and `noexec` absent ? This relates to path `'/config/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Codecs'` which i do have the Codec path but i'm not sure what the /etc/fstab is about so in googling it i found that if youre using UD you shouldnt have to worry about setting exec and noexec. he then replied with this which confused the hell out of me.. ive read it over a few times but cant seem to figure out a fix from it. https://forums.plex.tv/t/solution-conversion-failed-the-transcoder-exited-due-to-an-error/234363/319?u=_toxic can you please help me with this problem? saarg
Have you tried the slave option for the transcode mount? Try that or use the cache disk or an array disk for the transcode just for fun. Quote Link to comment
ToXIc
it is set to slave, or do you mean another option? if i set it to the cache drive will it then write to the array? edit: I changed it to the cache but it still not transcoding.. also it did create the folders on the cache drive.. it just didnt transcode. saarg
That was the slave I meant. You do have the transcode path in plex settings set to /transcode? Quote Link to comment

I then chmod the /tmp/transcode path to 0777 and now they are playing again. I am not sure what caused the issue as the day before all was fine. Conversion failed. A required codec could not be found or failed to install. Thanks! Edited February 25, 2020 by guruleenyc Quote Link to comment
