November 27, 20187 yr I'm about to build my Unraid setup, I have an existing 8tb with information and 2 more 8tb along the way. The existing 8tb will be used as parity. Whats the best way for me to transfer it's existing data to either of the 2 new 8tb drives?
November 27, 20187 yr Use the Unassigned Devices plugin to mount it outside the array then you can copy its data to the array disks. Since you are planning to wipe that disk's data by using it as parity, I have to ask. Do you have a backup of anything important and irreplaceable?

Thanks for the reply! I was just worried I had to assign a parity from the get go
