Gaming rig based on ASRock Fatal1ty z97 Killer ??

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm new to unraid and would like to build a NAS / Windows gaming rig.
My Hardware is quite outdated:

i7-4790K, 32GB DDR3 RAM, ASRock Fatal1ty z97 Killer motherboard and Nvidia 1070 GTX.

Unfortunately I do not have enough spare drives to do a test installation.

I'm positive that the CPU and the graphic card will suppot my small project, but I dont know if my motherboard will.

Can anyone report a successfull installation on that motherboard?

thanks in advance!

There are at least 3 other Unraid users using that ASRock Fatal1ty z97 Killer motherboard.  I cannot tell if they were running VMs but two of them had multiple video cards so I can only imagine they were for VMs.

Why is this outdated? This stuff is still more than good enough for gaming in 1080 or 1440.

@eschultz thank you! Sounds promising, I will do a test run and report how things are working out.

@hitman2158  of course the hardware is good enough. I was a bit worried if after 4 years I will still find people using that motherboard.

if IOMMU is not working with the latest bios... well.
