December 8, 20187 yr I currently have a basic license, with 2/3/2/2tb and 3tb parity. I have a LSI 9212 with 4i4e ports, would it be cheaper to buy a drive enclosure as I have multiple spare drives on hand and then upgrade to the pro license? Or to simply upgrade the existing drives in the system? Realistically I can't see any point going for anything less than 6tb if I'm upgrading drives at about £150 a pop. Thanks.
December 11, 20187 yr I'd upgrade your drives, think about the space you'd have if you had 8TB drives...

More drives means more opportunities for problems. Adding an external enclosure is yet more opportunities for problems. And larger drives typically have a performance advantage due to increased density.
December 24, 20187 yr Author Thanks for the replies, started buying drives to shuck, 6tb seems like the sweet spot for price Vs capacity right now.
