Spies
I currently have a basic license, with 2/3/2/2tb and 3tb parity. I have a LSI 9212 with 4i4e ports, would it be cheaper to buy a drive enclosure as I have multiple spare drives on hand and then upgrade to the pro license? Or to simply upgrade the existing drives in the system? Realistically I can't see any point going for anything less than 6tb if I'm upgrading drives at about £150 a pop. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
tdallen
I'd upgrade your drives, think about the space you'd have if you had 8TB drives... Quote Link to comment

More drives means more opportunities for problems. Adding an external enclosure is yet more opportunities for problems. And larger drives typically have a performance advantage due to increased density. Quote Link to comment

Spies
Thanks for the replies, started buying drives to shuck, 6tb seems like the sweet spot for price Vs capacity right now. Quote Link to comment
