Specific underlying procedure when adding data disk/starting

Featured Replies

I am wondering what specifically happens when I:

 - add a disk to a data array

 - start the array

I see some pre-clear operation starts, but how does this work more specifically?  Does it start zero-ing out the drive? Sequentially from the beginning?

The reason I ask: I added the wrong drive to the array....a drive which had tons of data on it which I intended to backup to the array...

I added a 3tb drive to the array and started the array, about 45 seconds later I realized my mistake and did a clean (web ui) shutdown of Unraid.  Does anyone have any suggestions for what I  can use to try to recover as much data as possible?  If not, some specifics on how the clear process goes such that I can find an appropriate recovery procedure?

Thanks
