LSI 9207-8I Drive Errors

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am having intermittent problems with drives dropping off the array due to read errors.   This has happened with multiple drives always connected to the LSI 9207 card.   I I am on the 7.35 firmware.  I have 4 drives connected to it currently working fine.  I have had 5 in the past but I am now in a state where no matter what drive I connect to any of the rest of the LSI ports, I get read errors.    Tried switching cables with no luck, this is even a new LSI board, the last one resulted in similar issues.   I know that I am very close on PCI lanes due to a VM with pass through although this happens even without the VM running..   What are your thoughts?   I am on the latest stable Unraid 6.6.6.

On the plus side no data loss yet because of how great Unraid is.

This could be your problem.  I recall seeing others recently on 7.x.x firmware having drive issues with later versions of the Linux kernel in the 6.6.x unRAID family.

Your firmware is very old.  The current version of Broadcom/LSI firmware is 20.0.0.7.  Your first step should be to upgrade firmware and see what effect that has.  It certainly will not hurt anything.
