Using LE custom cert causes nginx to redirect to literal wildcard

I'm trying to replace the Limetech LE cert with my own, which is a wildcard. In doing so, unraid redirects my browser to https://%2A.mydomain.com.  Is there a way to stop the redirect or at least correct it?
