WD20EARS, not jumpered in Mac

Featured Replies

So, i have 2 WD20EARS that i been using with an external enclosure with my MAC without any Jumpers. The thing is that now i wanna use those 2 drives as data drives in the UnRaid.

I have read about horrible performance if you try to use a EARS Drive (even Jumpered) in your server if this Drive was previosly used without.

My question is. Would i be able to use this 2 drives? How about install the jumpers and run the preclear script, or maybe run the script, then install the jumpers?

Or format the disc in the MAC, install the jumpers and put it in the UnRaod to run the scrip. Does that make any sense?

Any idea or suggestions?

Thx

You will only know if you try.  I would not worry about formatting them in the Mac, just install the jumper and then run a preclear_disk.sh cycle on them both.  NOTE: You will lose the data on the drive if you run a preclear on the drives.

The taking a screen capture of the console i am pretty sure is not possible.  For getting a copy of the syslog, you can find directions via the troubleshooting link in my sig.
