unraid for nas and vm for gaming

Featured Replies

I want to run windows 10 within unraid for gaming. Will an i7-8700k be good enough? It will be hosting a plex server as well but there will only be 1 stream  while gaming. I will of course have sonar, radarr and sabnzbd running as well (either within windows 10 or in a docker). Thats pretty much it.

I7-8700k and 32gb of ram be good enough for what I want to do?

totally depends on your setup, what games you play and how intense your workloads are

imho if you allow unraid 1-2 cores, sonar, radarr, sabnzb, plex 1-2 cores and your gaming vm isolated 4-10 cores it should be fine - provided proper iommu splitting and fast ssd outside the array to host dockers and vm. i wouldn run the services inside of the gaming vm to avoid high io activity / latency lags
