PCI-X internal SAS controller recommendation?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Any recommendation for a PCI-X SAS controller with an internal interface?

To go into a Supermicro X7SBE mainboard.

Thanks very much!

... or any PCI-E controller with an 8x physical interface? The X7SBE seems to have a free PCI-E slot, 8x only though...

Those would be very old controllers, and for example all from LSI will be 2TB limited.

Any LSI with a SAS2008/2308/3008 chipset in IT mode, e.g., 9201-8i, 9211-8i, 9207-8i, 9300-8i, etc and clones, like the Dell H200/H310 and IBM M1015, these latter ones need to be crossflashed.

Thanks very much. I have got an IBM M1015 and will be cross flashing it. Thanks again!

Would the LSI 9280-8e also work with unRaid?

I am also looking for an external-port alternative for another built.

Possibly but not recommended, that's a RAID controller, you want an HBA, like the 9200-8e.
