PredatorMLK
I'm removing a failed drive with no plans to replace (data was moved before failure). So now it is physically out of the system, and I want to shrink the array. Following the wiki all I need to do is Tools->New Config? is there any risk I will lose my array data or is this safe? (the new config thing is throwing me off....) Quote Link to comment
trurl
The only thing New Config does is allow you to change your disk assignments and optionally rebuild parity. Tools - New Config, Retain All. Unassign disk to be removed. Since you are removing a disk parity will need to be rebuilt, so DON'T check the parity valid box. (Yes I know the disk was empty but it was not clear). Start array to begin parity rebuild. Quote Link to comment
