Flash drive corrupted - need help restoring array

Featured Replies

Hi,

I had a ransomware virus hit my flash drive.  Since there was no getting the files off of it, i have already re-formatted it and re-loaded a fresh install of unraid.

I would request some assistance in getting the array back up and running.  I know that my parity drive is one of two 8T drives in my server.  Can someone either provide the steps to get the array back up and running or point me to another post providing these directions.

Thanks in advance.

Assign all disks to data slots and none to parity. The disk that shows as unmountable is parity. If more than one unmountable come back for more advice. DO NOT format anything.

i have identified my parity drive.   do i now assign it as parity and restart the array?

You need to do a new config, reassign parity and the other disks, check "parity is already valid" before starting the array and run a correcting parity check, since a few sync errors are expect if you mounted the disks read/write.

What is the easiest way to force a new configuration?

Go to Tools - New Config. For your case maybe not so important what you choose for Retain since you will be assigning parity. It will let you make any changes you need before starting the array anyway.

Just make sure you know exactly which disks you want in which slots. The whole point of trying to identify parity is so you don't accidentally overwrite a data disk with parity.

As johnnie said, you can check the parity valid box to avoid rebuilding parity and just do a correcting parity check after you start the array.
