Stuck using Windows for media server (SBS).

Featured Replies

I work in IT and have an SBS server at home for testing purposes, I also use it for my media storage. Because of this I can't run unRAID on that machine and I don't want to have 2 machines running when 1 should suffice. My question is this: How should I be running my hard drives in Windows? Should I just stick to the normal RAID setups (which are a pain when adding more storage)? Or is there another way to maintain everything?

Get with the program.  unRAID is the way to go for media storage.  All you need is a cheap low power cpu, a bit of ram (2GB absolute max, works even with 512MB), any onboard video support is plenty.  A $30 single rail psu.  Even a cheap ugly case.
