January 16, 20197 yr You can do it in Plex. Not as Nifty as they are presenting it, but you can click the button that says "Play Version" I've only checked PC and on my iPhone, but I could only imagine that other devices would support it.
January 17, 20197 yr Author Man, I had no idea Plex supported that! This means that when Kodi does I can finally merge my 4k Library with my SD & HD library
January 17, 20197 yr Plex (mostly) also automatically chooses the best version for each client e.g. if it can't handle 4k it'll play the 1080p version
