Bubba Raid / Squeeze Server on 5.0 beta ?

Featured Replies

I'd really like the squeeze server (either via bubba raid or by installing it directly?) on my 5.0 (beta) box...is bubba raid compatible w/ the beta? If not, is it even feasible to install slim server (slim central or whatever they call it these days) directly to the unraid box?  (I saw some posts from years ago and it seemed a bit overwhelming, but maybe things have changed?)

thanks

Bubbaraid is a complete replacement of unRAID and as such is using whatever version it has, I think 4.4.2.

Since there is a perl package, and the beta (at least) supports ln -s , should it be as simple as:

Install mysql

Install perl

Untar slimserver?

What am I in for if I try and do it myself?

Once the 5.0 final is released, the addons will be refined to be as easy as possible to install. In the meantime, any steps to install software on 4.5.6 will work just as well on the 5.0 beta series.

I think bubbaraid will be perfectly fine for you. It gives you speed and flexibility. Though the web pages for it may not be attractive but it serves you well. If you want to use squeeze server you may have to give up some features that you were enjoying. And I remember reading somewhere that there is a slimserver install script included with bubbaraid which is rather convenient I say. It is always best to go for bubbaraid as squeeze server may create some issues.
