Transfer speed from Cache to Array is Slow?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've got an Samsung 860 EVO 500GB set as a cache drive.

When I copy a large file from a share which uses this drive to a share that is on the array, the transfer starts out quick (around 400MB/sec) and slowly drops down to around 70MB/sec.  For reference, all disks on the array are shucked 8TBs.

I'm using Putty on my windows machine to SSH into the unraid device and doing this transfer using MC.

I feel like the speeds should be much higher than this but was wondering if what I am experiencing is normal or if there is some setting I need to change.

Thanks in advance and any help is greatly appreciated!

That's about right for default write mode, you can use turbo write to get better speeds, disadvantage is that all disks will spin up.

Ah understood. Thanks so much for the reply!

Will look into turbo write.
