Auto-dump Mino Flip by USB?

Featured Replies

If I wanted to easily archive/dump a mino Flip's contents, would it be easy to make a script for my server so I could just plug in the flip by USB, and it would transfer the new videos to a designated folder, and erase the videos from the camera?  What language would I code this in?  Any resources to get me started?  Any volunteers interested enough to help?

I think queeg might have experimented with that sort of thing with either S.N.A.P. or external udev rules.

That's too cool!  I get so giddy when I fantasize about having little scripts like this :)

Me too!

Installing SNAP is a tiny bit of work.  Download the latest SNAP files which are in the first post of that thread. Copy the files to where it says to on your unRAID flash drive.  Run the installer script.  Follow the directions for plugging in the camera and finding out it's device serial number in unRAID.  Add it to SNAP.  That will make it automatically mount and make a samba share for the camera's flash device so you can browse it.  After that, you can edit the SNAP event script to make it sync files to wherever you want when you plug it in.

No shit!  I've got a Flip too (8 GB HD Ultra model).  I never even thought about backing it up directly to my server.  Good idea, and good to know SNAP can do it!
