[6.7] Is share encryption possible?

Featured Replies

Using Time Machine backups via SMB in 6.7 and Time Machine pops up warnings that the destination is not encrypted. Got me started wondering if it’s possible to encrypt single shares in unRAID. 90% of my data is media files on public shares so I’ve never really worried about encryption, but there are a few types of files that would probably benefit from it. Is share encryption possible?

No, disk by disk, you could limit a share to one or more disks and encrypt those.

How would it know? I'm not sure changing the unraid side is going to change that message. I suspect it's a setting within time machine.

Good call. I completely missed the little check box when I selected the destination.
