squirrellydw
What happened to HGST drives? I know Western Digital bought them, did they stop making them? They were my favorite drives, not sure what I will use now. Quote Link to comment
BRiT
They were still out there a year ago when I was shopping around, but they seem to be harder to find at more typical retail and even some online shops. Quote Link to comment
StevenD
WD discontinued the name around August of last year. Anything out there is old stock. I would love to find a chart that shows the equivalent HGST ---> WD drive. However, I also read that Toshiba now owns the HGST 3.5" technology. squirrellydw
So someone says Toshiba might have bought the technology and someone else says they are the new helium drives. I love those drives. Quote Link to comment
StevenD
https://www.storagereview.com/western_digital_sells_hard_drive_assets_to_toshiba The X300 drive specs are very similar to the now defunct HGST NAS line. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16822149698 1 Quote Link to comment
