Internal error: unknown pci source type 'vendor'

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm trying to passthrough a usb controller but having some trouble.

I have edited the system file and rebooted  "append vfio-pci.ids=1b21:1242 initrd=/bzroot"

After the reboot under vm config and pci i can see - ASMedia Technology Inc. ASM1142 USB 3.1 Host Controller | USB controller (05:00.0)

But when i select this and click update i get - Internal error: unknown pci source type 'vendor'

Any ideas?

Posting this just incase anybody else comes here looking for a solution to this.

I ran into this issue this evening when trying to pass through a pcie usb card. The reason this happened was that I had the items plugged into the usb hub previously passed through, but when you reboot the server after altering your system file, they are still in the xml.

I fixed this by doing the following:

1. Remove the usb items from the card and place them into another slot.

2. Reload the vm template.

3. Uncheck the previously loaded items.

4. Save the template.

5. Re-enable your newly configured card

6. Save the template again.

Hi, I'm having same problem with my Data/Fax modem below, was all along working fine in 6.7 until I upgraded to latest version 6.8.x, not really certain which exact version started the problem. The modem is supposed to be passed through to windows 10 which was receiving & recording all analog calls & faxes. We still use faxes in South Africa.
