February 1, 20197 yr Hi there ... I believe my Unraid USB got damaged because of the electricity closed and came back several times ... and now it won't even get recognized from windows !! I believe i have 2 options here .. either to start from scratch (i'm afraid to lose share/drives/app data The other option .. I'm sure I used "CA Backup Restore Plugin" and it should have the Flash backup on one of the drives (i have 10+) is there a way to open the unraid using a new flash (fresh setup) then find the drive and copy the data? or this will mess the parity .. better to unplug them and plug into windows to find the folder? please ..
February 1, 20197 yr Do you have... 1. A diagnostics zip file from a time period with all your current drives? 2. A status email or notification from your unraid server before it crashed?

February 1, 20197 yr What we are trying to get at with the diagnostics or the emails is the possibility of finding out your disk assignments. Even without that though we should be able to get you going without any data loss, and if we can find your flash backup on your server maybe even without any lost configuration. Obviously having the flash backup on a system that you have to have the flash drive to boot is not a good plan, but you aren't the first. I have been in several threads just like this.

Did you guys miss this? 1 hour ago, alhatmy said: 1- no - just a copy of the config folder (2 months old) got the cashe & 2 parity ONLY - for sure (that includes the drives full name) .. i changed the rest He knows everything that's actually important, and it's enough to be able to easily hit the backup share and then get the config as of the last backup.
February 1, 20197 yr I did sort of miss that since I was just skimming and saw the questions more than the answers. But it is somewhat unclear what he means since he does mention changing something. I would like a clearer explanation since that quote is difficult to fully understand. But that's probably just me. I often have difficulty reading between the lines as you may have noticed. Many of my posts seem to be about trying to get clarification from the user.
February 1, 20197 yr Author 10 minutes ago, Squid said: @alhatmy Do this: Create a new USB stick, and set it up as a "Trial" Since you know what your parity disks and cache drives were, assign them accordingly. Assign everything else as a data drive. Select "Parity is already valid" when starting the array. If when starting, anything comes up as "unmountable", then stop and post back immediately If the array starts ok, then you should be able to hit your usb backup share no problems via the network. Contained in that folder is a file called DISK_ASSIGNMENTS.txt print it out. Save the contents of the flash backup back onto the flash drive. Go to tools - New Config. Assign the drives as per the file you just printed out. Start the array. If any thing comes up as unmountable, then stop and post back immediately Reboot. unRaid should walk you through transferring your registration to the new flash drive. thanx .. i'll try this now well the real issue wasn't the electricity i didn't want to say ... "this was my mistake .. i installed many parts same time :(" I started the server few months back with Ram 8gb*4 & for data 8tb*6 + 6tb*6 i don't like seeing its almost complete .. so i installed 4 new 8TB I believe the issue was from the Rams .. i over did it .. I installed 8gb*8 new = 64gb new .. the server couldn't boot and kept rebooting 7-10 times then i unmounted all the rams Edited February 1, 20197 yr by alhatmy
February 1, 20197 yr Author Thanks all !! got it fixed already !! i did exactly what Squid said; 1- since i have the parity details & half of the drives .. i installed them along with the rest 2- was able to open the shares (and copied the flash backup) to the USB itself 3- rebooted .. reinstalled the key and it worked !! I have to figure a way now to install my new Rams ...
