Forusim
Hello, I have read a lot in forums about different HBA, especially this thread was interesting: I would like to expand my array with 8x SAS/SATA port HBA over PCIe 3.0 x8 to be future proof. So from research the best value chipset for this would be LSI SAS2308. However it seems that the SATA bandwidth differs on different vendors. The HP H220 seems reportedly support only SATA 3Gb/s, but SAS 6Gb/s. Does anybody tested the above Dell GTP9G (SAS 9217-8i) especially for the SATA speed? Unfortunately I didn´t find any specifications on this card, but from retailer information it looks like 6 Gb/s SATA / SAS. Also interesting would be the possibility of flashing the IT firmware, without bricking the card. Any information is highly appreciated. Edited February 11, 2019 by Forusim Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
9217-8i is 6Gb/s, but it comes with IR firmware, I believe it can easily be flashed to IT mode, but never had any myself, alternately look for a 9207-8i, these always come in IT mode. Quote Link to comment
