unable to passthrough RTX gpu in x299 properly

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

i have searched through forums/reddit/watched space invader ones videos but im stuck.

Heres my setup
Intel 7960x

Asrock X299E-ITX

gigabyte RTX 2060 ITX

2x1tb samsung 970 evo plus as cache

6x10TB Seagates ironwolf

so my issue is that i have a windows 10 VM(i440fx-31 and OVMF) installed and setup with VNC display to get it all setup but i cant get the 2060 completely working.

heres what i have tried:

  • i dumped my vga rom from gpu-z and trimmed the headers to just be vga bios (as per spaceinvaderone's video)
  • changed PCI ACS to all types (by the looks of it, it was the usb c device inside of gpu that was preventing it from working {even though there is no usb c port...}) its now set up "Both" and now every device has its own iommu group
  • tried removing the vnc driver so only the nvidia gpu exists.

all this and no luck

in logs in the current state i get
kernel: vfio-pci 0000:65:00.0: BAR 3: can't reserve [mem 0xd0000000-0xd1ffffff 64bit pref]

and from windows VM just has warning that device cant start due to error.

so if anyone can help let me know as im stuck
