The topic of pros and cons of spinning down disks has been beaten to death but I know my preference is if I could spin disks down when not in use, I would rather do so. 

 

But I was really shocked to learn SAS drives being spun-down is not a supported 'capability' or 'feature' of Unraid and still seems to be the case? Have there been any work arounds for this?

 

I found a article on the web about enabling the standby mode for SAS drives but it doesn't seem to have made any difference.

    AFAIK currently there's no way to do it.
