October 4, 201015 yr Hey Guys, I am about to bite the bullet on two of these. Anyone have experience with them or would suggest another that is better? Love mine! You can't go wrong with Icy Dock. My case only had 4 external 5.25" bays, so I installed two of these to get six bays. Then I have six internal 3.5" drive bays, to get me to 12 drives in my case. One installed with no problems, but two were a super tight squeeze (but I did get them in with no tools other than my fingers). Also make sure you check out the promo section on their website. I know for June, July, August, and September, you could get $10 back, once per month, on these. Sometimes NewEgg has the best price, but I noticed that when they promote a rebate on NewEgg, the price goes up. However, Chief Value (New Egg too) will keep the old price.
October 4, 201015 yr Author Thanks KYThrill! I got them for $60.95 each shipped. Sounds like you have a Coolmaster 690 case?

October 5, 201015 yr Author Interesting. I just did a search and came up with this cool NZXT case. This one holds 10 drives without touching the expansion slots. Hope it has some powerful fans! http://www.futurelooks.com/computex-2008-spotlight-the-evolution-of-nzxt/

Hope it has some powerful fans! http://www.futurelooks.com/computex-2008-spotlight-the-evolution-of-nzxt/ Yeah, that's a nice server case as long as you have side access. The 10 drives in there are also mounted to rails, which means after the initial install, they are tool less quick release. About the next best thing to having hot swap bays. In the past NZXT has had some other cool designs. They had one case where the drive cage could be pulled from the front (assuming you left enough slack in your cables) and several models with removable drive racks. Mine is one of their more basic models, but it will hold 8 3.5" drives and has 4 5.25" bays. So in theory I could squeeze 14 drives in if I wanted. From the factory, their cases usually have subpar cooling (fans are usually cheap and noisy, mine came with three fans, all dead within one year), but they include several mounting spots for additional fans. So if you rework it with your own fans and fan layout, you can get premium air cooling. My NZXT has spots to mount around 10 80 mm fans, and several of the locations they have mounting patterns for multiple fans sizes (so you can do 10 80mm or 4 120mm +2 80mm, etc.). In many cases they are every bit the equal of Antec or Cooler Master, but I don't think they have any full tower options anymore for big 12-20 drive server setups.
