helin0x
Hi. Ive got an unraid server running a really old l5630 and 2x ibm sas m1015 cards for 16 drives I recently bought a 2700x with a x370-f mobo it’s got an nvme ssd and a 1080ti im curious if the pci express on my x370-f can support my my server kit and let me vm my desktop with pass through? so 1080 is x16, nvm is x4, the sas cards are x8 pci 2.0. the mobo manual says 16x3 but one runs at x4 mode. Do you Know what this means? Will this all just work?! Cheers Edited February 22, 2019 by helin0x Quote Link to comment
helin0x
It looks like it’s 8(gpu) 8(1st sas) 4(2nd sas) and 4(nvme) so my 2nd sas would run at half speed. But it would work as it’s still a x16 (size) slot? Occurs to me the mobo has 8x sata ports so that would mean I could get away with just 1x sas card. Will my 1080ti run just fine at pci-e 3 x8?? helin0x
It’s also only 350 quid for a Ryzen 5 2600 bundle, that’s a 65w cpu vs 105 for 2700x and I can keep them separate, might be best Quote Link to comment
