February 23, 20197 yr I am doing this trial UNRAID and I was using Plex plus a TV tuner to record data. Everything was working fine for a few months but recently I've been getting errors "uncorrectables" and next thing you know it my hard drives won't mount any more. What gives?

February 23, 20197 yr Community Expert Go to Tools - Diagnostics and attach the complete diagnostics zip file to your next post. Also give us a screenshot of Main - Array Devices.

February 23, 20197 yr Both disk 1 and disk 2 have corrupted file systems. Most common cause is unclean shutdowns in the middle of writes. You need to run the file system checks on them https://wiki.unraid.net/Check_Disk_Filesystems But your cause could be bad / loose cabling to the drives Feb 22 18:38:37 Storage kernel: ata8: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 310) Feb 22 18:38:37 Storage kernel: ata8.00: configured for UDMA/133 Feb 22 18:38:37 Storage kernel: ata8: EH complete Feb 22 18:38:37 Storage kernel: ata8.00: exception Emask 0x10 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x1990100 action 0xe frozen Feb 22 18:38:37 Storage kernel: ata8.00: irq_stat 0x08400000, PHY RDY changed Feb 22 18:38:37 Storage kernel: ata8: SError: { UnrecovData PHYRdyChg 10B8B Dispar LinkSeq TrStaTrns } Feb 22 18:38:37 Storage kernel: ata8.00: failed command: READ DMA EXT Feb 22 18:38:37 Storage kernel: ata8.00: cmd 25/00:c0:70:4c:3e/00:02:00:00:00/e0 tag 4 dma 360448 in Feb 22 18:38:37 Storage kernel: res 50/00:00:6f:4c:3e/00:00:00:00:00/e0 Emask 0x10 (ATA bus error) Feb 22 18:38:37 Storage kernel: ata8.00: status: { DRDY } Feb 22 18:38:37 Storage kernel: ata8: hard resetting link Feb 22 18:38:42 Storage kernel: ata8: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 310) Feb 22 18:38:42 Storage kernel: ata8.00: configured for UDMA/133 Not directly related, but in your BIOS you've also got the SATA controllers set to be in IDE mode. Setting them to AHCI will improve performance.

It looks like your array will not stop after 30 days. Because of that I was able to keep it alive for a month longer. Then it died. The USB drive that I initially had it on was not the one I wanted to begin with. I wanted to small ones that didn't stick out. Unfortunately your server did not like the 3.1 drives that I bought. So I ended up going though my stash to get something to get me up and running until I got another slim USB to replace it with. That is why I was able to stretch the trial out a few months. However it has been bumpy so far. I still have high hopes though. I am hoping this issue isn't caused by the DVR functions of Plex.
February 23, 20197 yr Community Expert In addition to the corrupt filesystems on both disks, they both have SMART issues. After trying to fix the filesystems you really should replace these disks. But since you have no parity the usual way of replacing/rebuilding will not be possible. So, I would say the DVR functions of Plex are not the cause (I have never had a problem with them). You have multiple hardware problems instead. Do you have backups of anything important and irreplaceable?
February 23, 20197 yr Community Expert Avoid using the Jmicrom controllers, the two purple SATA ports, especially when you still have free Intel SATA ports, though like Squid mentioned, change the controller to AHCI.
