Upgraded build error

Featured Replies

Hi

I've moved my disks and USB to a new build.

But after this I get disk1 with red cross and the 4 rest are having errors.

Do I need to replace disk1 ? and what about the 4 other disks ?

Thx in advance. Logs attached.

Strange, the onboard SATA controller and one or more USB controllers were disabled during boot, taking all the disks down, it then got initialized again, not sure if it's a board problem or not, try rebooting to see if it happens again, if yes you could try v6.7 to dee if it makes any difference.

Another strange thing, though it shouldn't be a problem, likely some mistake:

01:00.1 SATA controller [0106]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD] X399 Series Chipset SATA Controller [1022:43b6] (rev 02)
Subsystem: ASMedia Technology Inc. Device [1b21:1062]
    Kernel driver in use: ahci
    Kernel modules: ahci

It's a new Gigabyte x399 Designature ex.

Rebooted and still have same errors. Doing a memtest at the moment.

Also seems that board only detect 32GB of my 64GB RAM :(

Same error with 6.7

Not sure what to do `?

I would try booting with a clean Unraid flash drive, either a new trial one or backup yours and start with a clean config, if the same happens, and since you already tried different kernels it's likely a board problem.

Did a new config and got disk1 online. I trusted parity as it should still be valid.

Still errors on all disks....

Rebooted system and disk1 got a red cross.

ASMedia designed the Ryzen (X370/B350 etc.) and Threadripper (X399) chipsets for AMD. Some of the motherboard SATA ports are connected directly to the SoC and some to the chipset.

Is the CPU seated properly in its socket?

By new config, I meant a blank flash drive, just in case something there is causing issues, though I doubt it.

That explains it, didn't know that.

Played around a LOT.....swapped to another USB, swapped SATA cables for drives, checked all RAM blocks - got all 64GB to work, I think 1 block wasnt inserted correct.

seems that the disk errors is coming when AMD-VI is enabled. Anyone had this problem ?

Also disk1 keeps being red. Should I replace the drive ?

It's normal with Marvell controllers, don't remember seeing it before with AMD/Asmedia.

Ok thx. I'll try and run it in Raid mode later today.

Any recommendations for my disk1 which is getting red cross ?

Because likely it's the first one getting dropped offline.

Hi

Not sure what you mean ? it's getting a red cross even with AMD-V not enabled.

Bought a SAS 9305-16i card. Connected my array drives and enabled AMD-V with no errors so far.
