February 27, 20197 yr I created a share called NAS for all my machines to access and back up to. My Mac laptop, all my VMs and Windows 7 machine can see it and access the drive no issue. Never asks for credentials or anything. My Windows 10 machine for some asks for credentials to open the folder. I have the firewall off and its on the same workgroup which is WORKGROUP. When I click the NAS folder it asks for User name / Password and I use the same credentials I use to log into my Tower page but it says its incorrect. is there a certain format I should be using for the username? I just can not get this to work. HELP! Thanks all Edited February 28, 20197 yr by tmoran000
February 27, 20197 yr I think that is a Windows 10 problem as SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing support is now disabled by default in W10 v1709 and later. Follow the instructions in the link below to re-enable. http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20736/~/how-to-enable-smb-1.0%2Fcifs-file-sharing-support-on-windows-10
February 27, 20197 yr Author I followed and the SMB options were already ticked. I can see the folders but it asks for credentials and when I enter the only credentials I have it acts as if I am entering the wrong ones Edit*** Actually it says Access Denied Edited February 27, 20197 yr by tmoran000
February 27, 20197 yr Community Expert Read through this thread. Particularly, the last two pages. WIN10 is a SMB minefield... https://forums.unraid.net/topic/53172-windows-issues-with-unraid/

Only root can login in to the WebGUI. Root MAY NOT log in to shares. You must use different credentials.
February 28, 20197 yr Author right. so I only have my root account. when I use root as the user name and my password it says incorrect, So I created a second user in Unraid and tried it and yet still it fails
February 28, 20197 yr Author I did follow the second link posted and restart the Server and windows 10 at the same time and now I am able to sign in with the second User I created. What a pain in the ass this has been. Thank you all for who responded
August 20, 20196 yr Community Expert Just a quick note that there is anther solution to this problem without enabling SMB1. Microsoft has replaced SMB with "Function Discovery" (in a manner of speaking) and there is a daemon / script that enables that for Linux. I have "Instructions" in the thread here: forums.unraid.net/topic/82765-solved-windows-network-working-with-no-smb1/ Kevin
