UnRaid GUI not responding

Featured Replies

Hello,   the unraid GUI is not responding.  Timeout in the web browser.   I looked at the console and massages are flying by so fast I can not read the screen.   Some disk shares are responding but not all.     I added a used 2TB disk to the array yesterday.

I just want to remove the 2TB disk and return to normal.    How to I get unraid to respond to commands?   Any suggestions?

(right now I see reboot as the only option)   Thank you

Nothing was responding.   I rebooted the server.   Parity check is in progress.

I have attached a diag report.

That disk has quite a few reallocated sectors, but it doesn't look like Unraid has disabled it. Can you start the array and post another diagnostic?

Go to Tools - New Config, Retain All. Unassign that disk, then start the array to rebuild parity.

OK, I hear you.  I am not familiar with this action.    Dropping the array config seems kind of dangerous.  I guess unRaid can handle this.   Can you give me a bit more info on what will happen?

It will let you change your disk assignments and optionally rebuild parity. In the case of removing a disk, parity must be rebuilt. It won't do anything else. If for some reason it gives you a checkbox to format anything, DON'T check it.

This part seems scary -->  "reset the array disk configuration so that all disks appear as "New" disks, as if it were a fresh new server."       You said  "It won't do anything else".   Your advice before was high quality.   (but that "new disks" sounds a lot like "erased disks")     We keep the data right?

I don't see "retain all"  on New Config screen.

To be clear,  I should do this:

Go to Tools - New Config, Preserve current assignments All.    Click "done"

Return to "main" tab, Unassign the 2TB disk, then start the array to rebuild parity.

Correct?

They changed the wording.

Correct. And don't forget this part:

Ok.   Done.

Parity rebuild in progress.    I have attached a new diags file.

Cool.   Much easier than the other method I read to remove a disk.

There was one share that was exclusive to the 2TB disk.   Was going to be for some backups.   Do I need to do any clean up since the disk / share are gone?

Thank you

The user shares are simply top level folders on cache and array. If the folder is gone from all disks then the user share is gone. Does it even show up on your User Shares page?

No, it does not.

OK, then if you want it you will have to create it again and let it use another disk.

  • Author

Right, no issues.   Creating it from new is not an issue.   I was just wondering about clean up.   Thanks, all is good.

About 25% into the parity rebuild.    Does a parity rebuild take longer than a parity check?

Maybe even less. It doesn't bother to check before writing parity.

Party rebuild is finished.   All looks good.

I have not turned on the VM and Plex yet.

Thank you for the help.
