March 6, 20197 yr First time running a preclear on a drive so a little unsure... While my array was active, I ran a preclear on a WD Red 6TB drive (unassigned devices). While it was running, there were A LOT of those errors (attached; preclear logs) plus the drive from time to time disapeared from the unassigned devices (still there in preclear though). After two days, preclear passed and I don't see anything wrong which I think should confirm the drive is OK. . I rebooted the server, the drive (on a LSI 9201-8i) is detected fine in BIOS, controller and Unraid (in unassisgned) but I can't click on it to see smart, etc... (see attached "preclear done"). Is this normal? I'm scared to add it to the array... Thanks in advance! Edited March 6, 20197 yr by sfnetwork typos
March 6, 20197 yr Community Expert Please post the SMART report for that disk, you have to format and mount the disk to grab it through UD, you can also grab it on the console: smartctl -x /dev/sdc

March 6, 20197 yr Community Expert Disk looks fine, not sure why the errors, try running another preclear pass.
March 6, 20197 yr Author Just now, johnnie.black said: Disk looks fine, not sure why the errors, try running another preclear pass. Could it be because I was still using my array (plex, sabnzbd, radarr, sonarr, qbittorrent, etc...)? I saw the preclear sometimes switching on "pause" and resuming while it ran...
