No Device when switching to larger drives

Recommended Posts

Happy Monday all you beautiful experts,

So I am switching out all my 2TBs with 6TBs. Parity first. No issues. Then a data drive, no device. I restarted a few times the same. Got frustrated, put the old one back in no problems, then couple days later did it again and voila it worked fine, no issues rebuilding or anything.

Now, 2x Seagate Enterprise 6TB 7200rpm drives. I set the 2TB to no device, shut down, I shouldn't have to cause I have hot swap bays, but I did anyway as that worked in the past, why tempt the Data Gods.. Ritual.. So... No luck on either drive showing up.

So what are my troubleshooting steps? It is not a SATA cable seating/card issue (I don't think), cause the old drive goes back in perfectly..

ok all it was the 3.3v Pin issue.

Doesn't make much sense with the original description of the problem:

If it was that it should never have worked.
