squirrellydw
So I want to replace my cache drive with a larger one. What is the best way to do this without having to reinstall my plugins and dockers Edited March 12, 2019 by squirrellydw Quote Link to comment
squirrellydw
thanks, I just don't see where this is Click on Shares and change to "Yes" all cache shares with "Use cache disk:" set to "Only" or "Prefer" Quote Link to comment
John_M
On the Shares page click on each named User Share in turn (eg. system, appdata) to open its properties page. For each one that has "Use cache disk" set to either Only or Prefer, set it (temporarily) to Yes. Click Apply and Done, then move on to the next User Share. Quote Link to comment
squirrellydw
one other question, when I format the drive what should I use. The old one is btrfs but I have all my data drives in XFS. Quote Link to comment
JonathanM
BTRFs supports multiple members in the cache pool for redundancy or speed, has more options for stuff like snapshots and other advanced features, but is more sensitive to adverse events like crashes and such. XFS is limited to a single drive, but is more resilient. I've seen very few reports on here about cache drives failing to mount with XFS. No single correct answer for everyone, but my general rule of thumb is that if your server is uber stable and you want the most options available, BTRFS. If your server occasionally hiccups, or you have issues with unclean shutdowns, XFS. Neither option is bulletproof, as always a backup strategy is required for when things go poorly.
