I recently had a hard drive, western digital purple 4TB, throw errors in my unraid array. I took it out and verified with CrystalDiskInfo. SMART status was caution and "Current Pending Sector Count" was highlight yellow. I thought the disk was bad so I began to wipe it. I securely wiped and noticed now that the drive is reporting as good. Its reported in CrystalDiskInfo as good as well as DiskCheckup from PassMark. I also did a short test and it was fine. Ran an extended test now and its good too.

    Wait for the extended test to finish, it's normal for pending sectors to get remapped on writes, now you need to see if they don't come um again soon, as after having some, you're more likely to get more.
