March 22, 20197 yr Is there a reason why parity doesn't take advantage of multi core cpus and only uses a single thread? Is this a holdover from the old unraid versions? I would think with parity just being a lot of selective stripes of reads, unraid would be able to blast multiple cores all at once. Is there any future probability of it becoming truely multi core? Would Tom be the best guy to ask? Edited March 22, 20197 yr by bsim
March 22, 20197 yr Not that I can actually answer the question, but even if it is single core, you're still limited by the hardware (transfer speed of drives, bus limitations, etc), and those impact the speed. IE: My parity check speeds are awfully close to the speed of the drives.
