bsim
Is there a reason why parity doesn't take advantage of multi core cpus and only uses a single thread? Is this a holdover from the old unraid versions? I would think with parity just being a lot of selective stripes of reads, unraid would be able to blast multiple cores all at once. Is there any future probability of it becoming truely multi core? Would Tom be the best guy to ask? Edited March 22, 2019 by bsim Quote Link to comment
Squid
Not that I can actually answer the question, but even if it is single core, you're still limited by the hardware (transfer speed of drives, bus limitations, etc), and those impact the speed. IE: My parity check speeds are awfully close to the speed of the drives. Quote Link to comment
bsim
does this conversation sound like my processor single thread rating is my problem? Is there anything else that may be the problem? Edited March 23, 2019 by bsim Quote Link to comment
