I recently got a HITACHI HUA723030ALA640 7200rpm recertified hard drive for cheap. However, I seem to be having problems with it though. I have 7 other drives in my array and when I copy to them individually I get a transfer write speed of about 111 MB/s. However, for this Hitachi drive I get around the same speed 111 MB/s for about 25% of the transfer (file is 6.5GB)  then it drops all the way down to about 50 Mb/s and steadily hangs around there. Any ideas why this is happening?

    That's about right for default write mode, or are you using turbo write?
