Dell T330 HBA330 slow parity sync

Featured Replies

Hi there.

I'm rrying to setup unRaid on Dell PowerEdge T330, and after assigning hard drives: 1 for parity, another for data (2x2tb Dell SAS hdd) - parity sync is verry slow (28 MB/sec).

I also have 2 SSD for cache (raid1)

Is there something I have to change in IDRAC?

I changed controller to HBA (from RAID).

Controller is PERC H330.

When I type in terminal

/etc# sdparm -g WCE /dev/sdd

I get this:

-bash: /etc#: No such file or directory

Parity is (sdd)

Data is (sde)

Sorry, forgot to mention, you need to install sdparm, you can get it from Nerd Pack

WOW! Now we are getting someowhere!!!

I did everything and now getting parity sync from 25 MB/sec to 161.6 MB/sec! Woohoo!

That's awsome! Thank you verry much for ur assistance!

Does that speed look's OK now? Is 160 MB/sec normal speed I should be getting?

Also, do I need to do the same for cache drives? I have 2 intel SSD in RAID 1.

Looks about right.

SSDs are SATA, only SAS devices sometimes come with cache disable.

Well, my happines didn't last...

I had to eject data disk, and when i add it again, speed went down to 27MBPS again, tryed to enter command again, and it gives me error sdparm not found. What is interesting when I enter this command sdparm -g WCE /dev/sdd, it shows me that cache is disabled, but when I try to enter sdparm --set=WCE /dev/sdd, I get error sdparm not found...

I tryed reinstalling sdparm from nerd pack, but no luck.

I tryed to upgrade unRaid to latest  6.7.0-rc6, hoping it will solve the problem...

Here is a screenshot of the error I get.

Doesn't make much sense, addons are installed on every boot, post the diags, maybe something visible.

Alright, something new happend... I uninstalled nerdpack, deleted NerdPack folder from USB\config\plugins, rebooted server, installed nerdpack and sdparm again,

and this is what happens now:

Make sure you type the commands, don't copy/paste from the forum as sometimes extra characters are inserted.

OK.... feeling stupid now.... 🤦‍♂️

It was because of copying command instead of entering it.... Thank you again!

And was waiting for parity sync for 18hours couse of this....
