CPU usage stuck at 100% in one core after upgrade to 6.6.7

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody,

I suddenly realized some days ago that there were newer UnRAID updates after UnRAID 6.4.x because they are no longer shown together with plugin updates as it was before. So I updated it and since then I see that one CPU is always at 100% usage and I see some errors at the System Log:

Mar 28 18:35:34 GALEON kernel: ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Could not resolve [\_SB.PCI0.SAT0.SPT4._GTF.DSSP], AE_NOT_FOUND (20180531/psargs-330) Mar 28 18:35:34 GALEON kernel: ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Could not resolve [\_SB.PCI0.SAT0.SPT4._GTF.DSSP], AE_NOT_FOUND (20180531/psargs-330) Mar 28 18:35:34 GALEON kernel: ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Could not resolve [\_SB.PCI0.SAT0.SPT5._GTF.DSSP], AE_NOT_FOUND (20180531/psargs-330) Mar 28 18:35:34 GALEON kernel: ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Could not resolve [\_SB.PCI0.SAT0.SPT5._GTF.DSSP], AE_NOT_FOUND (20180531/psargs-330) Mar 28 18:35:55 GALEON root: error: /webGui/include/ProcessStatus.php: wrong csrf_token

I attach also a Diagnostics file generated by unRAID and a screenshot showing the issue. Is this problem something to be worried about?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: I've found a very interesting docker called Netdata with an insane amount of statistics about your server. I used it and checked CPU usage and found it was related to a media folder and also related to docker daemon. So I disabled the dockers one by one while checking Netdata tab and found out that when I disabled Plex media server, the CPU usage went down. I've tried a few times to restart it and it goes back to 100% usage. I'll try to find out what happens with it and report here so I can maybe help somebody else.

There's currently an issue with Plex where if UPnP is enabled on your router (and not all implementations cause it), it causes a core to peg to 100%. I was seeing it occur locally, but after updating Plex to most recent build of Plex pass, it seemed to have gone away, however your mileage may vary.

Looking at top.txt file in your diags, Plex was indeed using 100% of your CPU at the time you generated your diagnostics:

PID USER      PR  NI    VIRT    RES    SHR S  %CPU  %MEM     TIME+ COMMAND
 5958 nobody    20   0 1314160  75948  36220 S 100.0   0.9  13:52.16 Plex Medi+

I didn't recognize that, but a Google search for "unraid ACPI BIOS Error" says it is harmless, although you might try checking for a bios update:

Thank you for your answer. It's very good to know this issue exists. I don't have Plex pass so I suspect I can't update to the same release you have yet. I'll keep an eye on it
