I have decided to keep the same motherboard (new) from Supermicro, since I never had any issues. My server case is a new model. The memory and CPU I purchased used on Ebay, with a spare motherboard for 50.00. The raid card is the same model but new from Amazon. There have been some complaints about over heating, but the enclosure that holds the hard drives has been updated. This should no longer be an issue. You can broaden your search term using Supermicro X8SIA or X8SIL, it is more or less the same motherboard but different PCI configuration. Keep the PCI configuration for the HDMI video card in mind, if you use a different motherboard. March 31, 20197 yr Author Currently not running any VMs, although I am running a Plex container. No issues so far with the card I've had for 11 years. As that thread mentions it's hit or miss, but I will change to the Mega Raid just to be safe. The last threat I read a while ago wasn't as insightful. Thanks!
