unRAID crashed, now nothing assigned

Featured Replies

Hello all,

My unRAID didn't start correctly, and now I needed to re-format and re-install my unRAID-os flash drive.

I have just one huge problem.

My parity disk, and other xfs data disks are deleted/removed from the array, so everything is unassigned...

How can I get my array setup without losing any data???

I definetly need the help of our community, 'cause I can't find the solution to this problem wheresoever

Greetings, Rik

Assign all disks as data devices and start the array, there should be only one unmountable disk, that will be parity, if there is more than one grab and post diagnostics.

You can't have the disks mounted with UD, unmount all, stop array, start array.

What is UD??

If you already know which one is parity do a new config (Tools -> New config) and reassign all disks, double check parity is correctly assigned to the parity slot, check parity is already valid before starting the array, then run a correcting check, a few sync errors are expected.

Yes, but that's just the problem, I don't know which is the parity...

Is there a tool/way to find that out??

If I just knew that...

I already told you what to do:

It's not clear from the screenshot you posted above if the disks are not being detected or if you just need to do a new config to re-assign them, please clarify or post new diags.

Okay, I've set them all to data disks and I get this in my overview:

Did you unmount the disks from UD?

How do I do that?

Now I just selected the disks in random order, and nothing else.

Sorry for all the questions, but I don't get you...

You have the disks mounted with the unassigned Devices plugin, you need to unmount them first.

Like so:

For all the mounted disks.

Done, thank you for all the effort.

I am autistic, so my information processing goes slower... I am sorry for that. 😢

Now I've got this on my screen:

The disk that is showing up as unmountable will be your parity disk, so make a note of its serial number.

Now that you know which one is your parity disk do another New Config and this time you know which disk is your parity disk when assigning them.

Thank you @itimpi, it is working now.

Also many thanks to @johnnie.black for all the help.
