smak
Hi all, I recently enabled a root password on my server with an encrypted array and can't get back in to the GUI. Am I able to remove the root password by moving the USB stick to another computer? I've seen a couple different variations on a fix, one is to edit a file "/boot/config/shadow" and the other is to delete three files. Which is correct for version 6.4ish? Any concerns with the array being encrypted? I do actually remember the password to my other user so I have access to the shares but I'm not able to get to the WebGUI/log in to CLI. If I power down the server, I won't be able to start up the array again without logging in as root correct? Ugh. O_o Quote Link to comment
SpencerJ
Try shutting down server, plug flash into another comp/laptop and then delete the files "config/shadow" and "config/smbpasswd" (do not delete "config/passwd). Quote Link to comment
